Puya Alpestris
(puyaA)

Description
Large, clump-like rosettes of very prickly, grass-like leaves that grows for 3-5 years before exploding into flower in the warm, summer months. The flower stalk, also called the ‘Sapphire Tower’, can grow 1.5 mtrs tall, and towers about a meter above the plant bearing large numbers of spectacular, metallic teal-blue flowers with bright yellow anthers. Extremely drought tolerant, this plant loves the full sun and once established, does not require any extra watering.
